THE STUFFED PINEAPPLE

Note: This article just portrays my personal views on the very tragic incident that took place in Kerala.

It is often said that feeding a hungry soul leads you to the path of heaven. Yes, it is believed to be a kind gesture.

Be it a hungry human or an animal.

Recently there was a case that drove people and media to showcase varied opinions and views on the selfishness of humans.

A pregnant elephant was out in the streets of a local place in Kerala in search for food.

She found a pineapple on the road and ate it. Soon after that, she bumped into a lake and stood inside the water for hours and then died. It was found that the pineapple had a cracker inside which reacted in the poor elephant's stomach.

Yes, the locals were blamed for giving that pineapple to the elephant. But is this acceptable?

It is stated that Kerala has a system of keeping animals away from their crops by doing this.

But is this the way to do so???

Point 1:

People could make strong fences around crops to keep the animals away. Is stuffing crackers in foods a smart step?? How can the authorities allow it??

Point 2:

The elephant that was killed with the pineapple, did not go into anyone's crop. She was on the roads searching for food. Then why did the locals feed her with cracker crammed food?

Point 3:

I agree the elephant was pregnant but it takes an elephant 22 months to give birth to a baby. And the fetus was just 2 months old. The blame that was given to the people of Kerala for killing a pregnant elephant was wrong. The people did not know the elephant was pregnant.

Point 4:

Isn't it the responsibility of the government to create a space for the elephants away from the residential areas?? How did the elephant reach the local areas?? We know the devastating strengths of an elephant. If one elephant can come into the residential area for food, many can. And they can destroy many houses.

I know it is a mix of many opinions and questions, but yes aren't they valid?

  2. After the firecracker burst in her mouth instead of creating any havoc in the village went into the lake...was it for the sake of baby or she knew it was the end???
